A subsidiary of Brazilian timber company Braspine Madeiras has enlisted Posadas to acquire land from forestry trust Bosques del Uruguay.

Two separate Ferrere (Uruguay) teams participated, acting for both Braspine on regulatory approvals and for the Bosques del Uruguay on the sale.

The deal closed on 8 April for an undisclosed amount.

Braspine purchased the assets through its Paitones subsidiary, acquiring rural plots across the northeastern Uruguayan departments of Rivera and Tacuarembó.

In other recent Uruguayan investments, Dentons Jiménez de Aréchaga advised Construcciones Eduardo y Alberto O’Neill (CEAOSA) on a US$35 million contract to develop a luxury residential project last month. In a separate transaction, Uruguayan firms Guyer & Regules and Hughes & Hughes assisted energy companies Chevron and QatarEnergy, respectively, on their acquisition of offshore exploration assets from Shell.
