Eight PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) offices have helped French chemicals manufacturer Safic-Alcan acquire a majority stake in Lima-headquartered counterpart Anders, including its Latin American assets across nine jurisdictions.

Four Cuatrecasas offices, Marval O’Farrell Mairal in Argentina, PPO Indacochea in Bolivia, BKM | Berkemeyer in Paraguay,Posadas in Uruguay and Bustamante Fabara in Ecuador advised Anders, while Latin Lawyer understands that ACV Abogados in Mexico City also helped Safic-Alcan, but could not confirm this before publishing.

The deal closed on 30 September. The value remains confidential.

In the deal, Safic-Alcan acquired 70% of Anders’ share capital, including its subsidiaries in Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru, among others.

The acquisition strengthens Safic-Alcan’s footprint in Latin America and consolidates its strategy to expand its specialty chemicals and ingredients distribution network there.

The Anders Group transaction adds to a wave of cross-border chemicals deals in Latin America this year. In August, for example, Brazil’s VL Mineração acquired the mining subsidiary of US chemicals company Mosaic for US$27 million, just months after Japan’s UBE acquired the Latin American portfolio of German chemicals group Lanxess’ Urethane Systems for US$496 million.
